What's hot, what's not — August 2026

Anniversary anticipation is pulling money out of modern singles, sealed sports is soft, and slabbed vintage keeps grinding upward.

A row of graded card slabs

Hot

  • Graded vintage Pokémon in PSA 9 and above — steady bid support, low listing counts, no dependence on new releases.
  • One Piece alt-art leaders tied to the current arc. Anime cadence is still the strongest short-term driver in the game.
  • Universes Beyond Magic sealed. Crossover buyers don't behave like Magic players and they don't sell back into the market.

Cooling

  • Modern Pokémon singles from mid-2026 sets. Budget is visibly being parked for the September anniversary set.
  • Sealed sports hobby boxes outside the marquee configurations. Weekly release cadence means supply almost never gets scarce.
  • Raw ungraded chase cards priced as if a 10 is guaranteed. It isn't, and buyers have stopped paying for the assumption.

The read

This is a rotation, not a downturn. Money is moving from high-supply modern into low-supply graded and into the two confirmed Q4 events. If you're selling modern singles, sell before September 16 rather than after — an anniversary set absorbs attention as well as cash.

Every number behind this piece comes from settled sales, not asking prices. We blend eBay settled results with PriceCharting and refresh listings on a schedule, which is why our Fair Value figures move on real transactions instead of optimism.
